Mrs. Bias’s message wasn’t only about drugs. “Suicide is a permanent solution to a temporary problem,” she said three times.
“The number one killer of our babies in the future won’t be drugs or alcohol or suicide; it will be AIDS. With drugs or alcohol you get another chance, not with AIDS.
“Male and female virgins are first-class people,” she said. “When a young man is ready to get married, he doesn’t want an old cow who has been milked dry . . . being able to lie with a man doesn't make you a woman, and certainly being able to lie with a woman doesn’t make you a man.”
However, she told the students if they have been making wrong decisions, they can change. “Where you’re coming from is not important. Where are you going?” v In the evening she told the parents of the athletes, “Len Bias did more good by dying than he could have by living. Drugs are destroying our babies every day. Parents, storms will come. I’m standing today because of faith. I started a savings account on faith 12 years ago. When Len died, I had to withdraw from that account.
