Chapter I Council meets
The Parents' Advisory Council of the public schools' Chapter I program will hold its next meeting on Tuesday, Feb. 26 at 7 p.m. in the RCES library. All parents whose children participate in the Chapter I math or reading labs are invited to attend this meeting. Teachers will make brief presentations and there will be a discussion of how to increase parental involvement in the education of their children. Blue and Gold Banquet Feb. 23
The Amissville Cub Scouts will hold their annual Blue and Gold Banquet on Saturday, Feb. 23 at 6 p.m. The theme this year is ''Country Jamboree,'' and everyone is asked to wear country and western outfits, including the Scouts. Each family should bring a meat or vegetable dish, any farm tools for decorating, and all dishes and utensils should be labeled. There will be a father and son potato carving contest, so carve and dress up a potato and they will be judged on creativity, orginality and other qualities seen by the judges.
Sperryville VFD elects officers
The Sperryville Volunteer Fire Department this week announced the election of its officers for 1991. The . administrative officers are, Richie Burke, president; Roy Jenkins, vice-president; Chucky Jenkins, treasurer; Ronnie Dodson, secretary. The following members were elected as line officers: Greg Wayland, chief; Ricky Lillard, first assistant chief; Richie Burke, second assistant chief; Walter Jenkins, captain; Freddie Thompson, lieutenant; C.B. Johnson, sergeant.
