On Tuesday, the Panthers gave the home crowd a lot to cheer about as they dominated the visiting Generals during the second half, racking up 33 points during the third quarter alone. Once again, Paul Hitt led the offensive attack with 31 points, including six of seven three-point attempts.
Jason Butler also topped the 20point mark with 24, while James Roy contributed another 10.
“It was the best game we played all year,” Coach Leake said of the victory. “We have played a lot of games for 25 or 26 minutes, but last night we finally went out and played for 32 minutes. It showed we are capable, if we program ourselves beforehand. The guys have to decide that.”
The Panthers have a six-day layoff before beginning the Bull Run District Tournament next Monday night at Broadway High School in Timberville, just north of Harrisonburg.
