Beyer said that while he hopes President Bush is right in his predictions of a short, mild recession, he is not as confident.
“From my business perspective and the people that I talk to in the Northern Virginia business community, I think people are significantly less optimistic,” said Beyer who owns a Volvo dealership in Vienna. “That may be just because we’ve had the boom for the past 10 years. It may be a little longer for us to come out of it.”
Beyer said he supports Gov. L. Douglas Wilder’s approach to the budget crisis.
