The Panthers’ JV team fared better against the younger Rams, beating the visitors 51-28. The team was led by Greg Pendleton, who scored 12 points.
On the road against Manassas Park last Friday, the Panthers exhibited an aggressive offense, but sloppy ball-handling let the Cougars keep the game close as they capitalized on 15 Panther turnovers in the first half.
Coach Leake pulled his five starters at the end of the first quarter in frustration over their sloppy ball-handling. Bobby Jenkins, particularly, responded to the call with an outstanding night, scoring 13 points while grabbing 17 rebounds off the defensive boards.
Paul Hitt led the Panther attack, scoring 17 points, while Jason Henry and Kenneth Baldwin each hit for another nine points.
Hitt nearly singlehandedly controlled the game during the third quarter, scoring 11 of his points during that period. The Panthers built their lead from four points to as much as 14 before the buzzer.
