After Mr. Williams graduated from college in 1973 he settled into running the orchard with his mother and brother. However, along the way, his wife Bonnie, who had suffered from a birth defect all of her life, began to need more intensive medical attention and Mr. Williams took the Extension job in 1988 seeking better insurance coverage.
This past year, Mrs. Williams underwent surgery that finally and successfully cured the problem, but it has not been an easy year for the Williams family.
