CULPEPER — Despite the sloppy conditions at Commonwealth Park, Ian Silitch expertly piloted Wayne and Dorothy Miller’s Margo to victory in the $5,000 Showday Mini Prix at the Winston National Horse Show on Sunday, Aug. 16.
Silitch and the 7-year-old trakehner mare were tenth to go in the jump-off, challenging the other five clean rounds that went before them.
“He was fast on the other horse [For All Your Worth] but pulled a rail at the last jump [in the jumpoff]. So the main thing [I told him] was to set up on the last jump, and to get the turns down,” said trainerrider Tom Hardy, who helps Silitch.
