Mr. Vickery said he believes the programs Democratic presidential candidate Bill Clinton is proposing can “cut expenditures and rein in government. ” He said he supports Gov. Clinton’s proposals for “investing in infrastructure and incentives for job growth in the United States."
Mr. Vickery is also campaigning on changes in the health care system. “We need comprehensive nationwide reform," he said. “It’s not enough to leave it to the market to take care of the problem. We pay more than any Other country for health care, and we are 21st in infant mortality and 13th in life expectancy.”
Mr. Vickery said he supports “hospice and wellness programs.” He said he supports a program put forward by the Conservative Democratic Forum in Congress to establish large nationwide health consortiums to compete against each other in offering affordable health insurance.
