Jenkins family reunion

The annual reunion for the relatives and friends of the late Luther E. and Ada F. Jenkins will be held Aug. 23 at the picnic area of Graves Mountain Lodge, Syria, from 11 a.m. until dark. Those attending are asked to bring a picnic lunch to be served at 1 p.m.

CCWHY teen dance

CCWHY will hold a dance for all Rappahannock teens, 13-18 or eighth through 12th grade on Saturday, Aug. 29. The dance will be held at the Washington fire hall from 8-11 p.m. Admission is $2 per person. For information please call Judy Tole at 937-5850 or Anne Kerr at 937-5483.

Carnival at Chester Gap

Due to bad weather the Chester Gap Volunteer Fire Department rescheduled their carnival for two days, Friday, Aug. 21 and Saturday, Aug. 22.

On Saturday there will be a horseshoe tournament at 12 noon. Saturday night the band Stonebridge will perform two shows, 7:308:30 and 9:30-10:30. Please help support your local fire department. “There will be fun, food and games for all ages and an invitation is extended to everyone,” said an organizer.

Classes to be held

Apprenticeship related instruction classes for various trade professions. including bricklaying, building maintenance, cosmetology, carpentry, electricity, hvac, industrial maintenance, and plumbing will begin at Piedmont Technical Education at 6:30 p.m. on Sept. 14.

The classes will run for ten consecutive weeks, two nights a week. Monday and Thursday, three hours each night. For more information contact Coordinator Apprenticeship Related Studies, 825-0476, 8:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. Monday-Friday.

Auction items sought

Items are needed by Washington Volunteer Fire and Rescue Department for an auction to be held at 6 p.m. on Sept. 26. Anyone wishing to donate items should call 675-3615 and leave a message.

Craft show planned

The Amissville Fire Department and Rescue Squad is planning a craft show for the weekend of Oct. 24 and 25 at the fire hall. Anyone wishing to rent table space should contact Ginny Pierson at 937-4496.
