James Steward
James Lee Steward, 51, of Middletown, died Thursday, Aug. 11 at Winchester Medical Center.
Funeral services were conducted Saturday at the Stover Funeral Home in Strasburg by the Rev. J.E. Messick. Burial was in Gravel Springs Cemetery at Star Tannery.
Mr. Steward was bom Dec. 31, 1941, in Frederick County, son of the late Harry and Ella Louise Smith Steward.
He was a truck driver for the Valley Ready Mix in Stephens City and a U.S. Navy veteran. He was a member of the Shenandoah American Legion Post 77 in Strasburg, the Strasburg Moose Lodge and the National Rifle Association. ,
Surviving are his wife, Bumice June Hodson Steward; two daughters, Teresa Jane Hollingsworth of Woodstock and Melissa Dawn Voron of Edinburg; two sons, James Edward Steward of Rappahannock County and Jason Tilden Steward of Strasburg; two sisters. Elsie Pence of Middletown and Ann Dellinger of Toms Brook; a brother, Robert Larry Steward of Middleton and six grandchildren.
Pallbearers were the Honor Guard of the Shenandoah American Legion Post 77.
Honorary pallbearers were remaining members of the Shenandoah American Legion Post 77.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Middletown Volunteer Rescue Squad, P.O. Box 111, Middletown or to the American Cancer Society, P.O. Box 321, Woodstock.
