Evelyn Helbig
Evelyn R. Helbig, 87, of Boston, died Tuesday, Aug. 9 at Culpeper Memorial Hospital.
She was bom July 3, 1907, in Islip, New York to the late Florence L. Homedieu Raynor and Hewlett Raynor.
She graduated from Islip New York High School and Oneonta State Normal School in Oneonta, New York. She lived for many years in Bay Shore, New York and for several of those years taught elementary school.
She was an active member of the Penataquit United Methodist Church in Bay Shore and, in 1974, upon her move to Boston she became a member of the Culpeper United Methodist Church.
Mrs. Helbig is survived by her husband, Frank W. Helbig of Boston. She is also survived by a daughter and her husband, Jane and John Timothy O’Brien of Vienna, W.Va.; a sister-in-law, Christine Davies of Bay Shore and a number of nieces and nephews.
Funeral services were held Saturday, Aug. 13 at Culpeper United Methodist Church with the Rev. Hazel Eakin and Rev. Marvin Cook officiating.
