Private interment was held at the Mount Olivet Cemetery, Parkersburg, W.Va.
Iva Lee Bailey
Mrs. Iva Lee Bailey, 84, of Culpeper, died on Wednesday, Aug. 10 at Culpeper Health Care Center.
A native of Rappahannock County, she was the daughter of the late Grover Cleveland and Nina F. Gaunt Alther.
She was employed for a number of years as a nurses aide at Winchester Memorial Hospital.
She is survived by a sister, Anna Frazier of Culpeper; a niece, Alice Tharpe of Culpeper; a great niece, Kathy Brown of Stevensburg and a great nephew, Mark Tharpe of Culpeper. She was predeceased by a brother, Odie Alther.
Graveside services were held on Friday, Aug. 12 at Fairview Cemetery in Culpeper with Wayne Yowell officiating.
Pallbearers were Mark Tharpe, Billy Brown, William Fincham, Bill Pattie, Waverly Frazier and Harvey Clatterbuck.
Geest-Johnson Funeral Home was in charge of the arrangements.
George Hawkins
George Courtland Hawkins, 77, died Monday, Aug. 15 at Culpeper Memorial Hospital.
He was bom Oct. 22, 1916, in Sperryville, to the late Sarah Frances Woodard Hawkins and Charlie Hawkins.
Mr. Hawkins was the owner and operator of a fruit and vegetable stand for many years in Sperryville, He was also a member of Gid Brown Bible Baptist Church.
He is survived by his wife of 51 years, Pearl M. Hawkins and one son, Steve Hawkins of Alexandria. He is also survived by one brother, Bernard Hawkins of Culpeper and one granddaughter, Julie Anne Hawkins.
