Stephen and Beate Berger thought they had found their dream house. Tuesday morning they were lucky to escape from it alive.
This fall they came to the United States after several years in Israel. Mr. Berger had been bom in the U.S. and lived in upstate New York. He had been a dairy farmer, but his current occupation is shoing horses.
Mrs. Berger is an animal nurse, originally from Germany. They are expecting their first child in March. Mrs. Berger planned to stay home taking care of the baby.
They decided to settle in the horse country of Virginia and sought out real estate agent Anne Furtick to find a house for them. They wanted an old farm house. Last Friday they moved into a 1830s farm-^ house just like they wanted on Routf*626, the Scrabble Road.
