While most of the country takes a year off between elections, Virginia heads directly from one election into the next.
1995 is the year for elections for both houses of the General Assembly any for most local elections. V
Both Rappahannock’s representa/ tives to the General Assembly, State Sen. Kevin Miller, R-26th District, and Del. Jay Katzen, R-31st District, have announced they will seek re-election. It is unlikely either will face opposition in the Republican Party. It is unclear whether either will face opposition from Democratic Party candidates.
Locally all the constitutional officers except Clerk Diane Bruce, who is in the middle of an eight-year term, will be facing reelection. All have indicated they will seek another four-year term.
Sheriff John Henry Woodward will be seeking his third term. He said, “I’ve been here 12 years. I love my job, and I love my county, and I want to keep on serving.”
Commonwealth’s Attorney Peter Luke will be seeking his fourth term. He
