NOTICE OF PUBLIC HEARINGS
TOWN OF WASHINGTON, VIRGINIA
PLEASE TAKE NOTE that on January 11, 1995 at 7:30 o'clock P.M. or as soon thereafter as the matter can be heard, at the Town Hall on Gay Street in Washington Virginia, the Town Council of the Town of Washington, Virginia will hold public hearing for the purpose of the consideration of changes in its current General Budgets for tne Town and for the Town Water System, to change the rates for water usage, and to approve a Resolution to accept additional funds from Farmer's Home Administration to complete the upgrade of the Town Water System.
1. The purpose of the proposed budget changes for the, Town Budget is to modify the authorized amounts for expenses relating to the Washington Volunteer Fire Department, by reducing certain administrative expenses, and increasing the amount budgeted for maintenance in an equivalent amount, without increasing the total amount of the budget; and to provide for the expenditure of SI7,200 00 from the Town's Reserve Fund to reflect a grant to the Town Water System of $14,000.00 and to reflect a payment of $3,200.00 for fees incurred during the issuance of bonds for the upgrade of the Town Water System.
2. The Town Water System Budget is proposed to be amended for the reallocation of expenses in various categories, to reflect the receipt and expenditure of a proposed grant from the Town Reserve Fund, and to reflect expenditures of funds obtained by a proposed increase in the water rates.
3. The Town will also consider proposed changes to the Town Water System water rates to obtain a projected income of $50,000.00 per year, an increase from the present budgeted income of $40,085.00 Several alternatives for increasing the rates for the water system will be considered, including an increase of the base rate, an increase in the step rates for water usage above the base level, and/or removal of certain step rates above the base rate.
4 The Town will consider a Resolution to accept an additional grant of $75,000.00 and a loan of $75 000.00 from the Farmers' Home Administration, to be used to expand the Town Water System Upgrade.
A copy erf the proposed Town Budget, Water System Budget, and water rate changes ana the proposed Resolution to accept funds are available for public inspection at the Office of the Clerk of the Circuit Court of Rappahannock County, and the County Administrator's Office, both located on Gay Street in Washington, Virginia, during normal business hours, and at the Town Hall Office in Washington, Virginia, between 9:00 A M and 1.00 P.M. Monday through triday
