Aflame with tiger lilies, the countryside was an orange banner proclaiming summer’s arrival; such a breathtaking sight that en route to the city, a passerby stopped and picked one long-stemmed blossom to brighten the workplace. Upon arrival, the distracted commuter, mentally rehearsing the morning presentation, forgot the beautiful blossom. It lav on the seat, wilting in the June heat. The following morning, the shriveled flower was nearly discarded. Instead, plucking off the offended blossom the commuter instinctively carried the wilting stem into the office and placed it in a vase w ith little hope. A day and a night passed.
