Rappahannock’s second game on Sunday was against Spotsylvania Despite playing their fourth game in two days of high heat and humidity Rappahannock prevailed 14-0. The Rappahannock bats were active collecting 13 hits. Will Miller lead the hitting attack with three base hits; Jacob Dodson, James Henze and Jason Jenkins each had two hits; Danny Holden,James Lofton, Nick Raiford, and Alex Sharp had one hit each. Jason Jenkins pitched a great four inning, one hit shutout while recording eight strikeouts.
The entire county should be proud of this fine young group of baseball players as the odds were stacked against them from the beginning. Rappahannock finished the tournament with a 3-1 record, Spotsylvania’s record was 1-1, and Orange was 0-2. Rappahannock’s final victory again Spotsylvania would have forced a fifth game for Rappahannock to be played on the following Wednesday, but Spotsylvania had seen enough of this team and did not want to play a third game
