The penalties for those convicted of domestic violence have also gotten stiffen Those convicted will not be allowed to possess a fire arm in the state. A person convicted three times for domestic violence will be guilty of a Class VI felony.
“One thing it’s geared to is to make people realize that domestic violence is not going to be tolerated,” said Sheriff Settle. “It’s to get their attention to go and get help and resolve their problems.”
The local sheriff’s office sent officers to get special training about these new policies and how to implement them. Officers will also have a larger and more intensive report to fill out on each incident.
In other police business: Sheriff Settle re ported that a rash of reports of mailbox vandalism and theft of signs have come in during the last several weeks. The reports are centered in the areas of Flint Hill and the Tbwn of Washington
