Day is happy with her children’s efforts.

“I’m very proud of the hard work they’ve done. I wish more people would join 4-H and be in the farm shows. It’s a very important part of a child’s life. It was in mine.”

“Where else can you be rewarded for different types of work on different levels at one time? You can’t do it at school! You can’t do it at church! I mean you can’t go to school with a rabbit or a cow or a clown drawing and get recognition for it but you can through 4-H,” she said. That’s why she encouraged her children to join and get the same benefits she’s seen in her own life thanks to the program.

“My mom talked to me about it when I was really little. 4-H is fun,” Devin smiled.

Hazel thinks it “builds learning skills and self esteem by giving rewards for hard work well done.”
