Most associate 4-H farm shows with livestock but more is involved. For instance Carly and Devin Day are showing a total of 70 crafts.
Devin, 9, made 45 of these entries. Among her favorites are a coin collection, tie-dyed T-shirt and rabbit. Carly created 25 items including a painted Tshirt, stuffed monkey, and crayon drawing.
So why did the sisters choose crafts and not livestock? “We don’t have that much land!” Carly, 5, said, “and crafts are fun.”
Devin agrees. “I like crafts because your mind can make up creative stuff and it really makes you happy to see what you make,” she said.
The girls say they work on their entries all year long, at camp, Cloverbud meetings, home and events at the beach. Their mother, extension agent Hazel Zinn
