Mr. Forbergh, a representative from the tax department in Richmond, appeared before the Board of Supervisors at the first meeting of the year, Jan. 4 and discussed the general reassessment on real estate in Rappahannock County required in 1950. This reassessment was discussed by the board and continued for a future date. An egg of unusually large size which measured 8 and 5/8 inches the long way and 6 3/8 inches around the center, and which looked as big as a Turkey egg was laid on Wednesday, Jan. 4 by a New Hampshire hen which is one of the flock belonging to Rev. R.H. Scroggins at his farm near Washington. Dick Scroggins reported that his father’s flock of hens had been laying from one to four eggs a week with double yokes for the past couple of weeks. All boys between the ages of 8 and 18 will have the opportunity very shortly to become either Cubs, Scouts or Explorer Scouts in a county wide unit. The following men have been selected to serve as a temporary committee to study in detail the steps necessary in completing the organization of this county unit: Rev. A. Paul Thompson, Dan Link, Rev. Norman Flythe, Allen Johnson, Charles Wood, Lewis Turner, H.B. Winfrey, E.M. Jones, Rev. William G. Pendleton, Rev. M.E. Sliger, George Davis and William Lyne. Movie goers could view The Black Book; Zamba; Barkley’s of Broadway; Stampede or Tarzan’s Desert Mystery at Pitts Theatre in Culpeper for the admission price of 10 cents for some features and 25 cents for others. The Washington Theatre was showing Calamity Jane and Sam Bass and Knock on Any Door.

Superintendent of Schools OA Norton, has informed the WarrerTand Rappahannock County School Board that he plans to retire at the end of the current school year. Mr. Norton has served as superintendent of the two counties since 1961.
