break, the RCHS wrestling team hosted their first ever dual meet at the high school gym. The visiting Clarke County High School wrestlers came to Rapp for a 3:30 p.m. matchup that Friday.
Clarke County is currently ranked number five among Single A wrestling teams in the state. Although this was their sub-varsity squad, there was some very tough wrestlers on their team.'
The Clarke County team forfeited four of the 14 weight classes, but was able to pin their way to victory, defeating the RCHS squad 54-30. Sophomore Jeff Scroggins at 189 pounds and Junior Gamer Smyithe at 140 pounds decisioned their opponents for the two outright Rapp wins in the match.
The athletic highlight of the week was when RCHS hosted their First Annual Holiday Wrestling Tournament on Thursday, Dec. 28. The visiting teams were from Brentsville and North Stafford High Schools.
Culpeper and King George High Schools were supposed to compete but cancelled at the last minute due to injuries.
