PTO meeting scheduled

On Friday, Jan. 19 PTO will have its next monthly meeting in the Rappahannock County Elementary School cafeteria. Babysitting is provided at the meeting.

All school parents, teachers and any others desiring involvement at the elementary school are welcome to attend. At 6 p.m. there will be a potluck dinner with the meeting from 7 to 8 p.m.

Lee's birthday celebration set

On Friday, Jan. 12 the McCormick Civil War Institute of Shenandoah University and Hardtack Tours Inc. are proud to present an evening to commemorate the birthday of Robert Edward Lee.

This celebration will be held at Dean's Steakhouse located in Front Royal. Beginning with a social hour at 5:30 p.m., with period entertainment provided by the Tuscarora Civil War Brass Band. A sit down dinner with your choice of prime rib or marinated chicken breast, followed by a lecture given by the Rev. Robert G. Stainback from Winchester entitled "If I Could Talk With You, General Lee", will complete the evening.

The cost for this celebration is $25 per person. Reservations are limited, call Samuel L. Riggs at 635-5078.

Services Board to meet

The Rappahannock-Rapidan Community Services Board will hold its regular monthly meeting on Tuesday, Jan. 9 at 1 p.m. at 15361 Bradford Road. Individuals with disabilities who require special assistance to attend and participate in this meeting should contact Paula Benenson at 825-3100, extension 3146, or 825-7391 (TDD).

Band Boosters to meet

The Rappahannock County Band Boosters will meet on Thursday, Jan. 4 at 7 p.m. at the High School Band Room. Everyone is encouraged to attend. There will be a discussion of the upcoming New York trip for the high school. Effective with this meeting, the Band Boosters will begin to meet on the first Thursday of each month.
