Mr. Estes earlier reported that Mike Gardner of VDOT had suggested that, without a complete plan for the commercial center, VDOT would assume the maximum possible traffic into and out of the center, and that that would necessitate significant Schoolhouse Road improvements and a stoplight. If the road did result in a stoplight being installed, it would be the first one in the county.
When asked to comment on the concerns raised, Michael Leake, vice president and CEO of the bank said that “the matter will be brought in front of the Planning Commission on Feb. 19.
“Any comment now is premature as the facts involving the Bank Road will be discussed at that time. The bank has worked and will continue £o work with Rappahannock County, VDOT and the Soil & Water Conservation to ensure any development done in the commercial overlay district meets the criteria of all governing authorities.”
