Howard Amos Clark of Amissville is among the 43 young men who graduated Friday, Feb. 2 from State Police Basic Training School at headquarters of the Virginia State Police in Richmond. Trooper Clark will be assigned to Manassas after graduation.

Washington’s Tbwn Council will consider its first request for rezoning under the town’s zoning ordinance revisions, adopted in August 1986, at a joint public hearing scheduled with the town’s Planning Commission at the council's meeting next Wednesday, Feb. 10.
C. E. (Skippy) Giles Jr. has requested that the council clarify the status of the property now occupied by the Washington Cash Store, at the comer of Blue Ridge Avenue and Main Street. Mr. Giles would like to close the Cash Store and renovate the building for new offices for the county’s Health Department and throe apartments upstairs.
“We’ve worked on this for six years,” Supervisor Charles Estes said of the Rappahannock Board’s continuing effort to persuade the Highway Department to finish the long-delayed widening of Route 211 between Washington and Sperryville. “We’re not going to stop now. This is our main highway artery and we should take care of it.”
