John LeRoy Gaines

John L. Gaines, 87, of Washington died Jan. 24 at Warren Memorial Hospital in Front Royal.
Mr. Gaines was a former long-time resident of McLean, and was a self-employed furniture maker. He was a veteran of the U. S. Navy.
Mr. Gaines was preceded in death by his wife, Katherine Gaines, and he was the widower of Monty Gaines.
He is survived by two sons, Ludlow Smith Gaines of Leesburg and David Gaines of Harpers Ferry W.Va. Three grandchildren also survive.
Mr. Gaines also leaves his close friend, Ginny Pierson of Amissville.
Graveside services were held Jan. 28 at Washington Masonic Cemetery.

Laura Josephine Johnson, 80, of Amissville, died Jan. 24 at her residence.
A funeral service was held Jan. 30 at Bethel Baptist Church in Amissville. Interment was in the church cemetery.
