Not very funny
gain, the little Town of Washington is living up
to its billing with undercurrents and perturba JL JLtion, with resignations and intrigue and rejoicing for the changes, and with sadness that a couple hundred people can't live most happily in a most beautiful place.
Those in the"county watch what goes on as you fight and you squabble and you pinch and you shout as you take sides in a war that shouldn't be. Some of you see ghosts where there aren't any.
Frequently we hear county residents say how glad they are that they don't live in little Washington because of all the bickering and infighting.
Some want the town to grow on, some wish for it to be as George saw it, some just want to sit on their porches and rock their days away.
But surely there's a way for you all to have what you need, for you could not ask for a better place to live and to play. Stop for a moment, look up at The Peak, or down to the Rush, or just take a deep breath and go on your way.
Sometimes people look with veiled amusement. . . at the cauldron as it boils ... at the unhappy people.
And they laugh, it’s a joke . . . it's what goes on in Washington but it just needn't be.
