Twenty-six cub scouts participated in this year’s Pack 123 Pinewood v Derby races held recently.
Tiger Cub Justin Smith won Ihe third place trophy in the championship races. Webelos II scout Dustin Milam received second place honors.
The fastest car in the pack belonged to owner driver Case Kramer from the Wolf Den.
Nearly 100 scouts, siblings parents and leaders attended the races.
Many of the heats in the final races were close with the four cars passing through the electronic finish gate only millimeters apart.
The gate's infrared light beams could detect the differences in time down to one thousandth of a second. Official race starter Bryant Lee had very few races to rerun due to the system.
