As county employees retire, consolidate and eliminate several positions. I do not know the ratio of county staff to the number of citizens; however, by using this attrition method the county could raise $30,000-70,000 plus in usable funds and avoid putting unreasonable tax burdens on so many individuals in Rappahannock.
A troubling trend in our county is too much power in the hands of too few people. One of the most disturbing sentences in this regard (if I interpreted this correctly) was in our paper last week in the tribute to Dr. Krebser. The article stated that: “Dr. Krebser maintained his principles and a posture that left little room for compromise on matters pertaining to growth and development in the county....
