I would like to respond to Mr. McCarthy s Opinion column in this paper on Jan. 23 and address other citizen concerns in our county.
Mr. McCarthy explained the assessment process without addressing the concern of reassessments over 50°r (in some cases higher than 100*70. No mention was made of capping percentage rises in a three year period.
He also did not address which areas of the county were most affected which might help in explaining to all the citizens why some districts and not others were excessively raised.
He explains that the base rate may be low or even reduced. That may be a relief to those whose reassessments were raised a minimal amount
