creepy roles.
An old, dancing Mexican angel weaves his way throughout the story'.
The movie pits the rich developers against the citizens of the little village, and appropriate hi-jinks ensue as the villagers attempt to derail the proposed “Miracle Valley” golf community.
The citizens are led bv Ruby, who runs “Ruby’s Body Shop and Pipe Queen,” assisted by Jose who is illegally irrigating his beanfield with the rich developer’s water, and the now laidback and “dropped-out” editor of the town papier (who was also once a highpowered lawyer). Christopher Walken is fabulous as Krill Montana, summoned by the developers to assist in acquiring the town’s cooperation, and land. Melanie Griffith has an excellent small role as the rich developer’s spoiled, young wife.
Meanwhile Herbie Platt < the young Howard Stem) arrives in town on a college grant from NYU, to do a sixmonth sociology residency'. He finds much to study in the town of Milagro, including the neat old man with whom he stays. We enjoyed the old man immensely, as well as his p>et pig, which plays a significant role in the story.
