Prosecutor Casey has maintained throughout the case that Mrs. Fournier had learned from the foster child that her husband had taken indecent liberties but Mrs. Fournier did not report it. Instead she had her husband go to Florida.
Teachers and certain other professionals are required by law to report any suspected child abuse or neglect that they have learned about in their professional capacity.
One of the issues surrounding this case has been whether Mrs. Fournier had a responsibility to report these allegations.
When Fournier is released he will have to register as a sex offender and will not be allowed to be closer than 100 feet to an elementary or secondary school, according to the judge.
