step closer to reality at last week’s meeting of the Washington Town Council. Tb meet new specifications the new pump house will cost about $166,000, which is nearly $100,000 more than the town can afford. Mayor Dean Moorhouse reported that the Farmers’ Home Administration has approved an additional $97,200 grant so the town can proceed with construction.
The Water and Sewer Authority announced that Donna Chabot has been hired as the new operator for the Sperryville sewer plant.
At last week’s School Board meeting Helen Williams, chairman of the high school math department, proposed dramatic changes in the way math is taught to students who are not college bound. The committee recommended that Math 8 be replaced by a lab course tailed Introduction to Mathematics. It would involve a team of teachers including a math teacher, a technology
OUT OF THE ATTIC: Henry Jackson of Sperryville was proud of the large carp which
he caught in the Shenandoah River in Front Royal. The fish weighed 10 and a half pounds and was 27 and a half inches in length. This is
a large fish though carps grow much larger.
