On a motion by StonewallHawthorne District member Franklin Warner Tuesday night, the School Board unanimously approved the Superintendent's draft school budget of $9,728,007 for this year.
The proposed budget is nearly 11 percent higher than last year and the county contribution, borne by Rappahannock taxpayers, would increase by $919,694.37.
A public hearing by the Board of Supervisors on the school budget is tentatively scheduled for April 28 at 7 p.m. in the high school auditorium.
Fewer than 10 county taxpayers attended Tuesday s hearing to provide their perspective on school spending.
