picked up two wins during the first week of the season. The team defeated Page 13-3 and Luray 9-5. Against Luray Megan Payne had two doubles and four stolen bases, Danielle North had two singles and scored two runs while Jessica Ehrhart had a single and three walks.
“The team saw a good pitcher against Luray and adjusted well to her speed. The defense stepped up despite the cold and raid. I’m seeing improvement.” said Coach Joe Lisbon.
The Varsity Baseball team dropped its two games last week losing 15-5 to Page and 10-4 to Luray. Errors have plagued the team in its first two games as both Page and Luray had big innings that were partially fueled by Panther misplays.
Against Page Jason Jenkins had his first varsity run batted in. Josh Werner, Darryl Cropp, Jason Jenkins and Noah Starks pitched for the Panthers with Werner absorbing the loss. The team rallied from a 3-0 deficit to tie the score at 3 before Page picked up six fourth inning runs. Rappahannock rallied to make the score 9-5 before Page closed out the game in the bottom of the sixth inning.
The team took on the Luray Bulldogs on Wednesday and the Bulldogs posted a six run second inning against the Panthers as the defense once again let the pitching down. The Panthers rallied for three runs of their own in the second inning as Doug White, Michael Wiese and Darryl Cropp drove in runs. The Bulldogs picked up three
