He added that this past fall s coaching was a volunteer effort and stressed that the $10,500 proposed for football coaching next year was warranted because "football affects 110 to 125 kids one-quarter to one-third of the 812 grade population."
Ron Makela said that he "would like to say I wholeheartedly support the budget," but he could not because there is no plan to make cuts in the $1 million increase "that's not going to happen here."
Makela also criticized the fact that nearly $300,000 in instructional funds in the 2001-2002 budget were not spent for the purpose
