Irwin disagreed with the adequacy of the numbers and did not feel they gave the whole picture. He said he used the intersection many times each week and had seen 1 numerous near misses. He felt the intersection was more dangerous than the statistics let on, as these misses were not included in the numbers which Clark had cited.
“Mr. Irwin is right,” agreed commissioner Jennifer Matthews. “There are a lot of near misses.”
Others agreed that despite its compliance with required distances, more visibility was desirable in this particular instance.
“These are the laws of VDOT,” said commissioner Tbm Tepper. “Sometimes they fill in the valleys and cut off the hills so a road looks a whole lot better.”
Also discussed were the kinds of businesses which would be permitted to set up residence in the new offices. Clark said he was hoping to find low-traffic renters for the three proposed office spaces, who would have few visitors coming in and out of their offices. He added that there would be no hourly businesses, such as doctors and dentists, allowed in the spaces.
After voting on an initial motion the commission stalled, three to three with Tom Junk, Henry and Tepper objecting. All three desired alterations to the entiyway to increase safety.

deceleration lane for the proper- | ty’s enttyway. With this change I made, the motion carried unan- ■ imously.
Also discussed were upcoming revisions to the county’s Comprehensive Plan. County Administrator John McCarthy said he hoped to have the first three chapters of the document ready for review by next month’s meeting. He urged county residents who were compiling documents for consideration in the plan to have them completed by next month’s meeting.
