Power crews from West Virginia and as far away as Michigan came to Rappahannock to help restore power.
Despite the outages however those who live and work in the county managed to keep their spirits up in the face of adversity.
Belinda McLawhom acting postmaster in Flint Hill, believed that while such a long power outage could prove troublesome life must continue.
"I’ve lived in the country all my life. It was a little bit inconvenient but when you're country you learn to deal with it," she said.
The county did not only deal with it, they made preparations for it, even long before Isabel had touched land, from closing schools and county offices to setting up evacuation shelters.
