According to McCarthy, 25 percent of the county was still without power Monday. Rappahannock Electric customers could wait as long as Thursday to get their electricity back.
For some the power outage involved only slight inconveniences. Some residents hunkered down and made s'mores by candlelight while others settled in with a bottle of wine.
Ki Theatre in the Town of Washington took the old mantra "the show must go on" to heart and held its poetry coffee house Saturday evening by candlelight, the power having not yet returned. Between 40 and 50 people attended the event.
