The Rappahannock County High School boys’ cross country team traveled to Strasburg on Oct. 8 to race the Rams in a district dual meet.

The dual meet with Strasburg marked the end of the regular season for the RCHS boys with the Bull Run District Meet to be held at the Bleu Rock Inn on Oct. 22 at 2 p.m.

Tackling a very hilly 3.1 mile course, the RCHS harriers captured five of the first seven positions to defeat Strasburg High School, 23-34.

Kevin Martin won the race with a time of 20:24 while Alex Ramey (21:09), Josh Makela (21:15), Dos Allen (21:30) and Brian Brown (21:51) finished in spots four through seven.

Larry Oliver ran a close ninth (22:00), finishing ahead of six other SHS runners. JV runner Owen Monroe completed the course with a time of 30:54. Strasburg’s L. Grant won the girls’ competition with a time of 27:12.

RCHS golf team

Brian Taylor, Jacob Dodson and Ben Hahn represented Rappahannock County High School at the Region B Golf Tbumament held Oct. 7 at Wintergreen Resort.

In a match that saw most competitors shooting 90 or higher, the cut-off score for advancing to the state championship was an 83.

Taylor came close to qualifying, shooting an 86 for the day. Halm and Dodson shot rounds of 93 and 96, respectively.

Freshman Football

The RCHS freshman football team spotted the Panthers of Page County over 30 points in the first half, losing 38-21.
