APPROVED: The ARB approved The Mayor's House' sign, with carved shield and gilded lettering, for a small cottage next to the Inn's Shops where a former mayor of Washington once lived.
O’Connell suggested that smaller medallion signs would be in “better taste" and look less like a “pavilion at the World’s Fair." Donna Kevis and others suggested that the trellis signs needed a bit more “noodling” before they were brought back for approval to the ARB.
Of the eight signs originally proposed, the ARB approved four: the Sunnyside Mercantile, Sunnyside Market, Potting Shed and Dog gone Cat.
Two sign proposals for the entrance trellis were deemed too large and were withdrawn by Sunnyside for further design and reapplication to the board. Approval of two other sign proposals (the “Wake-Up Coffee” sign and the “Ice Cream Cone” proposal) was dropped when Sunnyside agreed to make them “sandwich signs" that would not then need an ARB vote.
