Six year old Tianchen Sun of Maryland took this hike with his family.
“I liked seeing the frogs in the pond,” he said.
He added that he was excited about the possibility of seeing bears on the trail. His family, he said, had spent the 1.6 mile hike clapping, as Park Rangers say this will keep the animals at bay.
“It’s part of the fun,” Sun said.
The Snead trail is very accessible, with one family even pushing a stroller along its gentle downhill slope. Also, unlike Traces Trail, dogs are welcome.
