Two Units of the Rappahannock County Sheriff’s Office were dispatched Saturday, May 15 at 11:41 p.m., to quell a donnybrook between six local residents in the parking lot of a market in Sperryville.

The sheriff’s deputies were responding to a 911 call from an employee of Mountainside Market. As the units were enroute, another 911 call came in to the Sheriff’s Office, this time from a man who said he had been playing pool at the market and he reported an injury resulting from the fight. Meanwhile, some of the men engaged in the fight left the parking lot.

Everyone involved in the fight was intoxicated, according to the Sheriff”s department

Statements have been taken, and, said Sheriff Larry Sherertz, “We will go from there, but we don’t know yet if charges will be pressed.”

A county EMS unit reached the scene of the fight, where a man was suffering from a “busted lip” and “knots on his head,” said the sheriff, and was taken to the Fauquier Hospitals emergency room for treatment, before being released.
