Through the work of Bill Jarrett and Frank Huff, the President of the Virginia Fire Chiefs Association joined the festivities to award Emory Russell an impressive gold Fireman’s axe in recognition of his 50 years of continuous service to the company. Russell graced the company with unbroken decades of service as an officer of Company 4, and was its first fire chief. Only recently he has assumed a slightly less active role.
Annual awards followed, recognizing Ken Pullen as EMS volunteer of the year, Karen and Bruce Williams as the most supportive member and firefighter of the year, respectively, and Settle’s Garage as the most supportive community member.
Bill Jarrett, Charlotte Tummeyer and the Hamill-HufT family were recognized with special President’s awards. The Chief’s Award went to Pat Lawler and the EMS Captain recognized Ken Pullen, each for running the most fire and rescue calls for the year. Many
