An easement granted by George H. Scott and recorded on June 30 brings the total Rappahannock County landscape protected by voluntary donation of conservation easements to 16,281 acres - or 12 percent of private land in the county.
Scott’s easement merges two previous tax parcels into one of 35.9 acres that may never be redivided. Fronting on both the Thornton River (which qualifies for consideration as a state scenic river) and Route 620 near Five Forks, the Scott easement is closely adjacent to the Red Oak Mountain easement cluster.
