“You may say that the Sheriff was the only Constitutional Officer to request this type of funding (for his deputies),” Betsy Murray, Deputy Commissioner of the Revenue, told the supervisors, reading notes written out by Peggy Ralph, Deputy Clerk of the Circuit Court. “However, I am sure that if the other Constitutional Officers were aware that such a request was going to be made, they too would have joined in. ..”
Six of the seven women who have asked for a supplemental raise represent a total of 87 years of service to the county. Three women have served for over 20 years and one for 15 years.
The seven are Sharon Dodson, Deputy Commissioner of the Revenue, Cindy Sumner, Deputy Treasurer, Betsy Murray, Deputy Commissioner of the Revenue, Samantha Williams, Deputy Treasurer, Peggy Ralph, Deputy Clerk of the Circuit Court, Lisa Welsted, Deputy Clerk of the Circuit Court and Patricia Giles, Assistant to the Commonwealth’s Attorney.
