Panthers win first
game 7-6, over Ponies

The 2004 Rappahannock County High School football team opened its first-ever varsity season Aug. 28 with a 7-6 win over the Chincoteague High Ponies on Virginia’s eastern shore. The single A Panthers won the first varsity football game in the school’s 45-year history, after only three years of participation in the sport.
“They just made history. They just don’t realize it right now,” said RCHS head football coach Kemp Pullin .after the game. “But when they’re older, they can look back and say ‘we were there.’ That team picture will be there forever. In this day and age it’s hard to be the first at anything. They are the first varsity football players in the history of Rappahannock County.”
