Dance and

painting

When asked what the link is between dance and painting, Nash said, “My paintings have a lot of movement in them, and there is always something I’m following in my choreography. . . also my way of painting has to do a lot with movement.”

Nash paints by pooling the water and the paints together, first without brushes, layering the paints over time, and then using brushwork for the finishing touches. Much is left to chance at the beginning of Nash’s painting process and the inspiration that then arises from how the paint moves across the paper is the next stage in her process.
