Oshu Kondori. a senior at Rappahannock County High School, was recently named a 2008 Ron Brown Scholar.
Established in 1996, The Ron Brown Scholarship Program was created in memory of Ron Brown. Brown served as Secretary of Commerce under President Clinton and chaired the Democratic National Committee. He was the first African-American to hold either of these positions. The .scholarship recognizes outstanding African-American high school students for excellence in several areas: community service, leadership, academic achievement, and financial need. Winners receive $40,000 of financial support at any 4-year college or university in the United States, as well ns access to an extensive alumni network, internship opportunities and a tight-knit community of scholars.
