Hamilton names new

director of Meadow

The Great Meadow Foundation has named North Carolina banking executive Katherine Hamilton chief operating officer and executive director of Great Meadow, home of the Virginia Gold Cup.

The 41-year old native of Washington. D.C., will be leaving her position as the senior vice president at Wachovia Bank in North Carolina to take the position prior to the May 3 Gold Cup races. Hamilton plans to make her new home near The Plains.

Hamilton replaces Leslie VanSant who resigned her position earlier in the year to return to the field of international relief work.

‘Katherine Hamilton is going to bring a magnetic and inspired new leadership to Great Meadow ’ said Nick Arundel.

Hamilton has had a lifelong interest in equestrian sports. She recently served on the board of the Carolina Horse Park Foundation in Southern Pines, N.C.
